Bunker prices have moved in mixed directions today, as Brent values have been volatile throughout most of the day.

Changes in the day to 08.00 GMT today:

  • VLSFO prices up in Rotterdam ($20/mt), Fujairah ($7/mt), Gibraltar ($6/mt), and down in Houston and Singapore ($18/mt)
  • LSMGO prices up in Fujairah ($30/mt), Singapore ($27/mt), Gibraltar ($12/mt), Houston ($8/mt) and down in Rotterdam ($5/mt)
  • HSFO380 prices up in Gibraltar ($31/mt), Fujairah ($16/mt), Rotterdam ($10/mt), Houston and Singapore ($10/mt)

Singapore’s VLSFO price saw a sharp drop on the day on the back of two lower priced stems for 500-1500 mt each. The low sulphur fuel grade remains tight in the bunkering hub with congestion building up in the port’s terminals.

HSFO380 supply has also tightened further in Singapore with lead times now stretching up to 12 days, which is among the longest across global bunkering ports.

At the same time, lead times for HSFO380 have moderately come down in Fujairah now standing at eight days head. VLSFO and LSMGO are slightly more readily available in the port with six days needed in advance.

There were three vessels waiting to receive bunkers in Gibraltar earlier this morning, as one supplier’s bunker barge was not ready creating delays of up to 12 hours. There were no delays nor any vessels waiting in Algeciras and Ceuta.

Fuel availability remains good for all three fuel grades in the Gibraltar straits.

Brent

Front-month ICE Brent has gained $0.10/bbl to 08.00 GMT on the day, to stand at $83.57/bbl.

The futures contract once again surpassed the $84/bbl mark during trading today, before falling below $83/bbl a few minutes after 14.00 GMT.
