Australia’s largest iron ore loading port, the port of Port Hedland, exported 46.9 million mt of iron ore in July, up 5.9% on the year, according to the latest data released by the Pilbara Ports Authority Aug. 16. However, the PPA data showed that the exports were down 5.7% from June, which had seen the highest monthly volume since December 2021. According to the data, the port, which is one of the largest iron ore ports in the world, shipped 40.45 million mt, or 86.2% of the overall volume, to the largest customer China in July, which was up 4.8% year on year, but down 8.6% from June’s two-year high. The port of Port Hedland also exported 75,000 mt of manganese ore to China in July, down 56.2% year on year, but up 7.1% from June.
