Iron ore seaborne shipments from Rio Tinto, BHP, Vale, Fortescue Metals Group and Roy Hill, as well as from Saldanha port in South Africa, rose by 7.9% to 22.48 million mt in the week commencing Aug.21, according to Platts cFlow ship and commodity tracking software from S&P Global Commodity Insights. Average volumes over the previous four weeks were 21.85 million mt. The data should be used as an indication only and may not capture all vessel movements and volumes.

 

Highlights of the Aug.21-27 week:
■ Rio Tinto’s exports reduced by 5.03% week on week to 5.18 million mt from Port Dampier and Cape Lambert. The weekly average shipments were at 6.07 million mt over the previous four weeks.

■ BHP’s shipments decreased by 12.12% week on week to 5.02 million mt from Port Hedland. Over the four previous weeks, its average volumes were 5.3 million mt.

■ Vale’s exports soared by 24.54% week on week to 6.59 million mt from Brazilian ports. The weekly average shipments were at 5.46 million mt over the previous four weeks.

■ FMG’s shipped volumes totaled 3.39 million mt from Port Hedland, down 3.44%. Over the four previous weeks, its average volumes were 3.33 million mt.

■ Roy Hill’s volumes totaled 1.49 million mt, compared with 0.2 million mt in the previous week.

■ Exports from Saldanha Port rose by 18.97% to 0.82 million mt in South Africa.
